The blackjack is the most famous table game which is popular in casinos and other gambling spots. The basic assumption of blackjack is that we should posses hand value near to 21 more than dealer without going beyond 21. Other players at blackjack table should not be considered. We should play the hand against dealer. The play rules for dealer must be dictated strictly and they should have any decision to take on their own. So, there is no problem if any other player or dealer sees the cards which are present in our hand. If we play a shoe game, the cards of all players must be considered face up. The cards have values in blackjack as below:

1. An Ace card will either count as 11 or 1 as demystified below.
2. The cards from 9 through 2 will get value based on face values.
3. The jack, king, 10 and queen all have 10 as their value.

The hand value is nothing put sum of points present in every card in hand. For instance, a hand which contains (9, 7 and 5) has the value twenty one. The Ace shall be taken as either 11 or 1. We have no need for specifying the value held by Ace. It is always assumed that it contains the value to make best hand. For example, if suppose we have beginning hand which includes six and Ace, this hand could be either 17 or 7. If we stop there, we shall have 17. We shall assume that we draw some other card for hand and have (3, 6 and Ace). The total hand now contains 20, which counts Ace as eleven. Now, we shall consider that we have drawn some other card containing 8 The hand now is having (8,6 and Ace) which has a total of 15. We should notice that Ace must be counted only as 1 for avoiding getting beyond 21.

A hand which has Ace can be called as “soft” total if Ace shall be taken either as 11 or 1, without making total more than 21. For instance, 6 and Ace is a soft seventeen. The explanation comes from the point that any player could draw some other card for getting soft total without the risk of busting by getting beyond 21. The hand (6, 10 and Ace) is considered hard 17, because the Ace can be taken as 1 here as counting Ace as eleven can make the hand go more than twenty one.
